... Technologies that will change the world soon

Keeping up with the newest technologies can be a challenge for even the most tech savvy amongst us. However, let me make life easier for you. Here is a list  focusing on groundbreaking advancements that give people a new way to use technology.
I was particularly interested in how technologies can solve really hard problems and solutions that will expand human possibilities. Simply stuff I like. Think differently? Let me know.
Ultra efficient solar power
The search for practical alternative forms of energy has been going on for decades now. However, the rise of ultra efficient solar power is coming closer to making the reality of alternate energy forms come true. Such breakthroughs are allowing solar power, in particular, to really compete with fossil fuels. I have seen some amazing developments lately and I can't wait until one of them hits the market.
Additive manufacturing
One of the most popular trends of the recent years has been the development and popularization of 3D printers. Companies are now starting to take advantage of printers that build up several layers of materials to form a fully functioning product or part. General Electric for example has begun to take steps to print fuel nozzles for new aircrafts through 3D printing. Airworthy parts out of a printer? Wow!
Temporary social media
While social media has changed the way people interact in a big way, many social sites such as Facebook and Twitter have also presented problems with privacy and the availability of information.  Enter for example temporary social media platforms like Snapchat. Such platforms allow users to send pictures that will automatically destruct after a given period of time. These new platforms are allowing users to interact socially while not broadcasting those interactions to the world. Very clever!
People powered Apps
The app that most changed urban life last year was Uber, the car service. Beyond making a night on the town easier, Uber has proved that smartphones are effective at connecting customers with nearby workers. Now that model is multiplying into a zillion services, like the “Uber” for grocery delivery (Instacart), chores (TaskRabbit), parking (Luxe Valet), laundry (Washio) ... even massages (Zeel). I realize that not every service treats workers or customers equally well, so ask around. The good news is you’ve got choices because these services are easily and often cloned.
That's it for today folks. Ending this with the immortal words of officer Brody: "I think we're gonna need a bigger boat ...".
